Region Locks Explained: Will This Key Work For You?

What EU, Global, ROW and US mean on a key listing, why gift cards must match your account currency, and how Keyper shows which keys work where you are.

Publishers can sell the same game at different prices in different countries, and region locks stop a cheaper key from one country being activated in another. Here is how to read the labels.

The Labels You Will See

Example: what each label means for an account registered in the UK.

Label Usually means On a UK account
UK Sold for the United Kingdom Works
Global / Worldwide No region restriction Works
EU / Europe Sold for European accounts Usually works, but check the listing: a few publishers treat the UK separately
ROW (Rest of World) Everywhere except certain regions, often including Europe and the UK Often does not work
US, NA, LATAM, Asia, TR, IN, AR and others Locked to that country or region Will not work

Console Codes And Gift Cards

Console stores tie everything to your account region, not where you live today. A US PlayStation Store card will not top up a UK account, and a Nintendo eShop card must match your account's country.

Gift cards must also match your account currency. A card in dollars or euros cannot be added to a wallet in pounds.

What Keyper Does

Keyper reads the region from each store's listing and shows it next to the offer (for example Standard Edition · Steam · EU). On a product page, offers that work in your region are listed first and marked ✓ Works in your region. Offers for other regions are marked ⚠ May not work instead. Gift cards only count as a fit for your own region, because a wallet balance must match your account's currency.

Prices are shown in your currency. You can change region with the switcher at the top of every page.

That check relies on how the store describes the product, so always read the region note on the store's own page before you pay.

What Not To Do

Using a VPN or changing your account region to activate a key from another region can break the platform's terms. The key may be revoked later, and the account can be restricted. A slightly cheaper key is not worth the risk.
